Today, April 4th, a meeting was held with Teach for Uzbekistan, a non-profit organization working to expand educational opportunities in Uzbekistan, with the participation of 4th-year graduating students from Profi University.
At the meeting, students were provided with detailed information about this project. It is noted that within two years, the participants of this project will have the opportunity to improve their work experience as teachers in schools in remote areas of the republic.
University graduates who successfully pass the tests of the Teach for Uzbekistan project will be trained using an innovative methodology effectively operating in more than 60 countries around the world, and in addition to their monthly salary, they will also be paid a monthly scholarship (500 US dollars).
Contestants will undergo a five-stage selection process. Candidates are selected by professional recruiters.
The first stage is filling out an application on the program's website and writing a motivation letter. In the motivation letter, the applicant should indicate why they want to work at the school, why they believe they can teach at the regional school for two years, what skills they have, and which languages they can speak.
The second stage is a one-hour online interview, during which the selection committee checks general literacy and the candidate's compliance with the established requirements. The participant is asked which subject they would like to teach and their level of language proficiency is checked.
In the third stage, candidates go through a so-called "face-to-face" stage. Participants will conduct test lessons and perform exercises. The results of the tests, according to Fedor Sheberstov, will be evaluated by the best teachers in Tashkent.
The fourth stage is matriculation (starting work). Participants visit one of the schools and attend classes, communicate with students who are successfully mastering the subject.
The final stage is participation in the "Summer Institute." This is a five-week intensive training course, in which finalists undergo preparation for starting work at the school. After that, the finalists will undergo practical training at the school's summer camp, learn classroom management, and prepare for the start of the academic year.
For information, Teach for Uzbekistan is a partner of the global network Teach for All, which supports similar initiatives in 63 countries around the world. The organization's goal is to provide quality education to every child, regardless of their social status and place of residence.
